OTTAWA – Ron Cannan, MP for Kelowna-Lake Country wishes to issue the following funding alert:

The Social Development Partnerships Program Disability Component (SDPP-D) invites not-for-profit organizations to apply for funding through calls for proposals.

The SDPP-D helps to ensure that people with disabilities benefit from the same quality of life as all Canadians. It supports a wide range of community-based initiatives that provide effective approaches in addressing social issues and barriers that face people with disabilities.

Funding will be provided under two components: Social Development Projects and the Accommodation Fund.

Social Development Projects should address one of three themes: promoting accessibility, seniors with disabilities, or youth with disabilities.

The Accommodation Fund focuses on enabling people with disabilities to fully participate in keys events and conferences by ensuring that the events are accessible.

The application deadline is April 6th, 2009.
