Cannan Urges Kelowna-Lake Country Seniors to Get Involved

KELOWNA - A national Call for Applications for the new components to the New Horizons for Seniors Program is now in effect, says Ron Cannan, MP for Kelowna-Lake Country.

In total, $10 million in funding is available nationally to community organizations to support projects that will combat elder abuse and fraud, and better deliver activities and programs for seniors.

“Kelowna’s population has the highest proportion of seniors in the country. We want to ensure that our community is responsive to their needs. By providing the resources, the federal government is encouraging seniors to get involved in creating the kinds of community programs that will ensure their needs are met,” said Cannan.

Cannan urges seniors’ organizations in the riding to take advantage of the funding before the December 14, 2007 deadline.
