KELOWNA – Ron Cannan, Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country, has been appointed to the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs. This is in addition to his responsibilities as a member of the Standing Committee on International Affairs.
“I am pleased to be a member of the Veterans Affairs Committee,” said Mr. Cannan. “I look forward to addressing some of the outstanding issues that concern veterans, particularly pension and compensation issues. Canada’s veterans played an important role in shaping the nation we are today. It is important that we listen to their concerns and try to address them effectively,” he said.
“I will work with my colleagues and the Minister of Veterans Affairs, the Honourable Greg Thompson, to ensure the needs of our veterans and their families are met. We value our veterans and their contribution to this country. We should do what we can to support them,” Mr. Cannan said.
“Showing our appreciation and respect for all they have sacrificed is important,” he added. “I encourage everyone to take time this Remembrance Day, Sunday, November 11th, to let them know how grateful we are.”
