October 09, 2009

Kelowna, BC – Member of Parliament Ron Cannan, Kelowna-Lake Country, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced funding under the Community Adjustment Fund to help strengthen economic opportunities in the Okanagan.

Signalink Technologies Inc. of Kelowna will receive $676,400.  The funding will provide opportunities in the technology field for workers formerly employed in the forestry industry.”

“I’m pleased to announce our Government’s support for Signalink Technologies Inc.,” said Mr. Cannan. “Investments in innovative companies are not only vital to the economy, they will spur the kind of job creation needed to sustain communities now and in the future.”

Ed Alfke, CEO of Signalink said, “This capital will create a number of jobs here at Signalink Technologies that will continue years beyond this program. It is not a handout but a loan, which we will pay back to the government after investing this money to drive sales in the USA with our Canadian Technology.  It is a great help to push our new technology when we most need it.”

The Community Adjustment Fund is part of  Canada’s Economic Action Plan and will provide $306 million over two years to support the most affected western Canadian communities, such as those that are heavily reliant on resource-based industries, including forestry, mining, agriculture and fisheries, and communities that depend on the manufacturing industry. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the fund in the four western provinces.
