Government of Canada supports accessibility for all Canadians
October 28, 2010

Kelowna, BC —Organizations can now apply for funding for projects that will create or enhance accessibility for people with disabilities through the Government of Canada’s Enabling Accessibility Fund.

Ron Cannan, Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country on behalf of the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, today invited organizations to apply for contribution funding of $500,000 to $3 million through a call for proposals for mid-sized projects. These projects may include retrofits, renovations or new construction of facilities within Canada that help organizations better serve people with disabilities.

“We recognize the abilities of all Canadians, and celebrate the progress we have made as a society towards the full inclusion of people with disabilities,” said Mr. Cannan. “I know local organizations want to improve access to facilities, activities and services enabling everyone to participate fully in our community and the Enabling Accessibility Fund is there to help them.”

Organizations can submit proposals until January 13, 2011, under the Fund’s Mid sized Projects component.
