Kelowna, BC - Ron Cannan, Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country announced today funding approval from the Ministry of Canadian Heritage for the Lake Country ArtWalk.
“Our Government is proud to support The Lake Country ArtWalk Planning Committee,” said Minister Moore. “By partnering with communities to support activities that celebrate our shared history and our rich cultural diversity, we are fulfilling our commitment to strengthen our communities and support arts, culture and heritage.
"I appreciate the time, energy and commitment of all the dedicated volunteers and supporters who continue to help make the annual Lake Country Artwalk the success it is. This annual Okanagan event provides a great opportunity for local artists to share their work with the community while demonstrating how the arts contribute to our local economy," said Mr. Cannan.
The Lake Country ArtWalk Planning Committee has received funding of $4700 to help present the Lake Country Artwalk, which will take place from September 10 to 11, 2011. It will be the 18th annual edition of the Lake Country Artwalk in the community of Lake Country, BC. The multi-arts festival activities include local emerging and established artist exhibits, demonstrations and interactive workshops, as well as dance, music and theatrical performances. The theme of this year's festival is "Eye Tunes: A Rhapsody of Art", looking for connections between art and music.
The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
