One of the best parts of my job is playing host to folks from our riding who travel to Ottawa to visit Parliament Hill like Sheldon and Patricia Paulger of Kelowna above who are with me in the Senate of Canada chambers. Patricia is sitting in the Speaker’s Chair. If you look closely, you can see behind us the seats occupied by the Governor General and his spouse (or the Queen and Prince Phillip if they are here) when the Speech from the Throne is delivered.
My wish is that every constituent gets the chance to visit Parliament Hill at least once in their life. After having a chance to absorb the sights, sounds and history of the seat of our democratic government, you will go back home with a better understanding of how Parliament functions and be an even prouder Canadian.
If you do decide to pay us a visit, please feel free to contact my parliamentary office and my staff will make arrangements to get you tickets to Question Period and help you with any other questions you may have such as tour arrangements. If I’m available I’ll even take you on a tour of Parliament myself.
For more information on visiting Parliament Hill please go to the following web address http://www.parl.gc.ca/Visitors/planning-e.asp or call my office at 613 992-7006.
Thanks again for the opportunity to be your “Kelowna-Lake Country Voice in Ottawa”. It is an honour and privilege to serve you.
Sincerely,
Ron
